» xEPI2: Web-based Monitoring of Profibus Networks December 17, 2008 • The new Trebing & Himstedt xEPI 2 for the first time enables continuous, parallel monitoring of a high number of PROFIBUS strands during operation. In combination with an optional web browser, the intelligent diagnosis unit automatically identifies any malfunctions or anomalies, including physical problems. The clever thing and main highlight about this is – no additional software and no configuration besides setting the Ethernet address for each unit are required. The xEPI 2 units automatically link together, create a network and exchange diagnosis information. As a result, users are always able to monitor all PROFIBUS networks of the entire plant. An alert function allows quick and targeted action in case of failures. In addition, the concept enables implementation of various service models. Within the scope of modern remote maintenance scenarios, for example, system providers and local service partners will be able to access crucial diagnosis information at the same time for successful troubleshooting.
